My Love Affair With Pie

I love pie. Seriously.

It's not just me, everyone in my family are cake people.

(Except maybe my sister, but I digress.)

In my family, we also have this fundamental rule that absolutely forbids someone to commit "Pie Abuse".

Really, it just means that, if you eat a slice of pie, you gotta eat the whole slice. No exceptions. If you're caught committing pie abuse, then you have to do the dishes.

(I know it sounds lame but it's everyone's least favorite chore to do.)

Ever since I can remember, I've had a birthday pie instead of a birthday cake on my birthday.

I don't mean those gross, gelatinous store-bought pies. No. I'm talking about the home-made pies that are baked with the best ingredient: Love.

Due to my picky, pie-loving tendencies, I've acquired a taste that prefers some pies to others.

Long story short, I have my top five favorite pies and I'm going to share them with you and then I'm going to share my absolute least favorite pie.

(Deal with it.)

I'm not going to explain too much as to why I prefer one pie over the other. Just assume that I don't have one and it's just my tastebuds talking.

#5. Peach

The kind of peach pie that I like is not peach cobbler. No sir. I actually don't like peach cobbler all that much.

(That being said, if peach cobbler is offered, I will eat it.)

#4. Apple

The All-American Apple pie! I love it, but I don't like it as much as the next pie on my pie list. Sorry to all you apple-pie lovers.

#3. Mixed Berry (Triple Berry)

I LOVE mixed berry, especially triple berry, pie. Blackberries. Rasberries. Blueberries. The perfect trio.

#2. Rhubarb Custard

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Rhubarb Custard pie. I don't know why, but I hate it with strawberries. Something about the tartness of the rhubarb is delicious when in pie form.

Hands down, by far, this is my absolute favorite pie out there. I love it and, if I could, would have it for breakfast, lunch, and probably dinner.

(Really I'd eat pie in general all the time if I could.)

I love lemon flavored sweets and pastries, so it's easy to see why this would be one of my favorites.

As for my least favorite pie? Well, that goes to the most heinous pie of all:

Pumpkin.

(Queue gasps from pumpkin pie lovers everywhere.)

Now, hold the phone there Sonic the Hedgehog.

Lemme explain.

I can't.

I just don't like pumpkin pie. I'll eat it, but I'd have to drown the damn thing in Cool Whip to get it down. Yeah. That's right.

I guess it's just a thing that relates to nobody in my family liking pumpkin pie either. On thanksgiving, I don't think I can recall a time where it was ever served.

I don't think I've ever seen my mother or grandmother physically making one either.

Oh well. To each their own, amirite?

Until next time!
